LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The body of missing Fox executive Gavin Smith has been found, coroner’s officials said Wednesday.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department officially declared him dead on May 1, 2014, two years to the day since he was reported missing.
Smith died under mysterious circumstances.
His body was found in the Angeles National Forest.
John Creech, a convicted drug dealer, was named as a person of interest in Smith’s murder in 2013. Creech is serving eight years in prison on drug charges.
Smith had reportedly met Creech’s wife Chandrika while he was in rehab. Detectives believed a jealous John Creech killed Smith because he believed the two were romantically involved; the exact nature of their relationship was never established.
Smith’s distraught family held many vigils and kept media attention in the case alive for more than a year.
In February 2013, Smith’s car was discovered in a Simi Valley storage facility. Creech was linked to the storage unit.
