Storm Welcomed Start To Winter
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Forecasters say about half an inch of rain fell over the Southland in the winter's first good storm.
National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Kittell said Saturday to expect some scattered rain throughout the day with the sky clearing up by evening time; temperatures are expected to warm into the 80s up by mid-week.
The storm that moved down from Northern California on Friday caused some mudslides in Ventura County, where debris struck at least two homes.
Officials in Orange County say they've lifted an evacuation advisory for Silverado Canyon, where they had feared mudslides.
Crews Saturday remained on the scene of a major debris flow that evacuated nearly a dozen homes in Camarillo Springs overnight.
Kittell says that this storm is normal for November, the start to California's wet season.
He says this rain is no drought-buster for L.A., which receives 15 inches in a normal year.
