Man Arrested For Targeting Women At Banks And Robbing Them In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 37-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly targeting elderly women at local banks before assaulting and then stealing from them, the LAPD said Friday.

Dewayne Allen Taylor was arrested Thursday on robbery charges and was being held on $50,000 bail.

Police said that on October 1, Taylor was seen on surveillance watching 67-year-old woman during her transaction at a bank near Jefferson and Crenshaw boulevards in South LA.

He then followed the victim to her home in the 3000 block of 10th Avenue where he "pushed the victim to the ground and forcefully took her purse," Det. Gerald Harden said.

Detectives are also investigating another strong-armed robbery that occurred five days prior just blocks away from this robbery. Both victims gave similar accounts and description of the suspect.

Police believe there could be additional victims. Anyone with information should call the Det. Harden at (213)485-2562.

Taylor will return to court on Nov. 20.
