15-Year-Old Accused Of Sexual Assault In Ventura

VENTURA (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said they have arrested a 15-year-old suspected of a sexual assault in Ventura.

Officials said they received a call Oct. 20 from a "hysterical" woman who said she was assaulted in the 100 block of East Main Street.

The woman told police she was walking in the area when she was encountered by a young man. He reportedly told the woman he was 18 but she said he appeared younger.

She said the boy suggested they take a shortcut off the main road but that he then became aggressive. The woman said the boy tried to grope her, and she refused his advances. The woman said the teen choked her until she passed out.

When she awoke, she said, the boy was attempting to remove her clothes. She told police that she screamed, and the male fled.

After an investigation, detectives identified the assailant as a 15-year-old Ventura resident. At the time of the assault, authorities said, the boy had also been reported as a runaway.

He was booked Thursday at the Ventura County Juvenile Detention facility and charged with felony battery and assault with intent to commit rape.
