MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — The motorcyclist killed in a Washington Boulevard hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon has been identified as a Whittier man.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Jorge Antonio Lopez-Chavira, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 4:45 p.m. crash, according to coroner’s investigator Betsy Magdaleno.

Lopez-Chavira was riding a motorcycle that struck a pole after being hit in the rear by a tan four-door vehicle that fled the scene, Montebello police said.

Both the motorcycle and the suspect vehicle were traveling east on Washington Boulevard at a high rate of speed before the crash. The suspect vehicle was last seen headed into Pico Rivera, police said.
