Window Washer Electrocuted In San Bernardino County

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — A middle-aged man remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after being electrocuted while washing windows.

According to the San Bernardino City Fire Department, firefighters were sent around 11:40 a.m. Friday to the 1300 block of South Waterman Avenue for report of an explosion.

Once on scene, they found the victim suffering from severe burns to his body. He was transported to a local burn center on life support.

During a preliminary investigation, crews said the victim had been washing windows with a telescoping pole.

At some point, the pole came in contact with a power line that was directly above him, which subsequently electrocuted him, authorities explained.

According to Southern California Edison officials, the power line had about 115,000 volts of electricity running at the time of the incident.
