Clippers' Griffin Named As Suspect In Alleged Battery At Vegas Nightclub

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Clippers forward Blake Griffin has been named as a battery suspect stemming from an incident at a Las Vegas nightclub, according to reports.

On Oct. 19, Griffin was in an altercation involving a camera at a resort along the 3300 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, according to Las Vegas Metro Police Department spokesman Jesse Roybal.

Police responded to a call early Sunday to investigate a report of an alleged battery, in which Griffin was named a suspect, Roybal said. It wasn't immediately clear when the alleged incident took place.

A TMZ report states that Griffin allegedly grabbed a man's smartphone because he was "bothered by the flash of the camera" after the man took a photo early Sunday at Tao nightclub at the Venetian resort.

The 39-year-old man alleges that he had been slapped in the face by Griffin, who then had his neck squeezed by the Clippers forward.

Representatives of the club and Venetian owner Las Vegas Sands declined to comment.

Griffin and the Clippers were in Las Vegas after playing an exhibition game Saturday against the Denver Nuggets.

Head coach Doc Rivers spoke about the issue on Wednesday.

"Obviously, I don't know enough about it. It's an ongoing investigation, so I don't have a lot to say about it," Rivers said. "(But) I trust Blake, a hundred percent. He's a great kid, and we'll figure it out and get through it."
