Woman Fatally Stabbed By Boyfriend Near USC Campus

EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — A man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend near the University of Southern California campus was in custody Saturday.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male with short hair, however, they have not released any further information regarding his identity or charges filed.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to Budlong Avenue and 36th Street around 7:50 p.m. Friday for report of a stabbing.

Once on scene, officials found a female victim and transported her to a hospital where she later died.

LAPD officers received a description of the victim's boyfriend and his vehicle from witnesses, and passed the information along to all squad units in the area.

The suspect was spotted and taken into custody shortly after the incident took place.

School officials indicated Friday that the stabbing was not university-related.

On Saturday, officers confirmed the incident was a result of a domestic dispute.

The scene was cleared around 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

The victim's name will be held pending notification of family members.
