OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Detectives were searching for a married couple Saturday that were involved in a domestic dispute yesterday afternoon.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 12:25 p.m. Friday to the 2000 block of North Ventura Road for reports of shots fired.
Once on scene, officers said witnesses provided information regarding a male and female inside of a grey four-door newer model sedan.
The couple left in the vehicle prior to officer’s arrival, however, evidence at the scene indicated at least one shot had been fired.
It was unclear if any injuries were related to this incident.
A preliminary investigation conducted throughout the day revealed that the incident involved — Anthony Carbajal, 24, and Valarie Carbajal, 24 — residents of Oxnard.
According to police, Anthony is currently wanted for a probation violation and for a separate domestic violence incident.
Investigators received a tip that the couple was seen driving Eastbound together across California and Arizona, eventually stopping in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Albuquerque police officers located the couple walking together and contacted them to check on the well-being of Valarie.
Anthony was found to be in possession of a firearm and Valarie was safe and unharmed.
Officers arrested Anthony and they both were transported to the Albuquerque Police Department for questioning.
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information on the whereabouts of the Carbajal couple is urged to contact police at (805) 385-7740.
