Leona Valley Stable Owner Accused Of Abusing Horses

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 34-year-old woman, who owns a stable in Leona Valley, is accused of abusing several horses.

Prosecutors say two of the horses at the stable died and two others had to be euthanized as a result of Aron Emily Jacques' alleged negligent care.

Jacques of Santa Clarita faces four felony counts of animal cruelty and five misdemeanor counts of failure to care for an animal, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said in a written statement.

The statement says the horses were allegedly discovered starving by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control in February.

Jacques faces a maximum sentence of seven years and six months in prison if convicted of all counts.

She is expected to be arraigned Oct. 15.
