Detectives Seek Man Accused In Fatal North Hollywood Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public's help Friday in providing information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of killing a 40-year-old tattoo artist in North Hollywood last night.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded just before 6:00 p.m. to the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard for reports of a shooting.

Officers said they found Michael Pebley, known as 'Trigz', of Pacoima, lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the man suspected in the killing was inside of a business when Pebley walked in. An argument between the two men escalated into a physical fight outside the business, and the man pulled a handgun, fatally shooting Pebley, police said.

KCAL9's Peter Daut attended a vigil where dozens paid their respects in the spot where Pebley was gunned down.

"He worked very hard to provide and be a good human being to the people around him," a friend said.

Pebley left behind five children and owned a tattoo parlor in Pacoima where he worked with musicians such as Chris Brown, Snoop Dog and Travis Barker.

"He was a wonderful father and worked very hard to provide and be a good human being to the people around him," said Ryan, a friend of Pebley's. "That's what matters the most."

On Thursday night, traffic in the area was diverted for an unknown amount of time and a portion of Laurel Canyon Boulevard was shut down while officers worked on a preliminary investigation.

Officers described the man believed responsible for the shooting as white or Hispanic, 25 to 30, weighing no more than 200 pounds and stands no taller than 5-foot-11.

Detectives said the suspect's vehicle is a 1990's model four-door white Honda Accord.

The cause of the fight remains under investigation.

"It's just tragic, it's horrible," mourner and friend Laura Beck said. "He didn't deserve it."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact detectives at (818) 623-4075 or (877) 527-3247.

A fund for funeral and family expenses has been established in Pebley's memory, which can be reached here.
