Claremont High School Cafeteria Worker Accused Of Having Sex With Student

CLAREMONT (CBSLA.com) — Officials have accused a cafeteria worker at Claremont High School of having sex with a 16-year-old male student.

Vanessa Antonia Tinoco, 33, was arrested on campus Monday for felony oral copulation of a person under 18 and unlawful sexual intercourse, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Authorities said someone at the school alerted them after they became concerned about the alleged relationship between Tinoco and the teen.

"The officer and the detective met with both parties, obtained statements and based on statements, they made the arrest," Lt. Mike Ciszek, of the Claremont Police Department, said.

Police said the relationship lasted over the course of the past few months.

"We're still . . . trying to figure out exactly when it started," Lt. Ciszek added.

According to Tinoco's Facebook page, she is married to a "wonderful musician".

She was being held on $70,000 bail at the Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

If convicted, Tinoco faces up to three years and eight months in state prison. She was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Investigators said they're trying to determine if there are other victims.
