Human Remains Found At Bassett Trash Processing Facility

BASSETT (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Tuesday were investigating the death of a person, whose remains were found at a trash processing plant, as a homicide.

The remains were found around 8:30 p.m. Monday at Athens Services in the 1400 block of Valley Boulevard in Bassett, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

An employee "found human remains while sorting trash on a conveyor belt," officials said.

Based on initial examination, the remains appeared to be female.

The cause of death will be determined by the coroner.
