Caltrans To Close 5 Freeway In Santa Fe Springs At Intervals For Weekend Work

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — The Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Fe Springs will be shut down at intervals over the weekend as part of a project to add lanes to the roadway and reconfigure the Alondra Boulevard bridge.

Caltrans says the 5 Freeway will be closed in both directions from 1 to 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and 1 to 5 a.m. Monday between Carmenita Road and Valley View Avenue.

Lane and ramp closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday. The ramp from the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to the southbound 5 will be closed throughout the weekend, along with the ramp from the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway to the northbound 5.

During daylight hours over the weekend, various lanes will be closed in the affected stretch of the 5 Freeway.

The northbound Valley View onramp to the 5 Freeway will be closed during the 55-hour weekend closure. Caltrans says the southbound Alondra Boulevard onramp to the 5 Freeway will close permanently.

All of the closures are scheduled to be lifted by 5 a.m. Monday.
