Southwest Airlines Jet With Malfunctioning Flaps Lands Safely At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Southwest Airlines jet landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport Saturday after reportedly experiencing a problem with its flaps.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Flight 1704 from Sacramento was scheduled to land at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank but was diverted to LAX due to its longer runways.

According to the Times, one passenger aboard the plane described the landing as "high speed" and "rough." He said, once the plane touched down, everyone applauded, reported KNX 1070.

The airline told the Times the aircraft has since been taken out of service for inspection and repairs.

No injuries were reported.
