Man Arrested In Connection With Death Of 69-Year-Old Torrance Woman

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an elderly woman has been found dead in Torrance, and a 47-year-old man was taken into custody.

Officers responded to an apartment in the 3800 block of 226th Street following a report of a "man down," the Torrance Police Department said in a written statement.

The incident was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived they found a 69-year-old woman dead.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Rafaela DeCass.

Police said the suspect, who was in the apartment, had sustained injuries. He was subsequently taken into custody.

Police believe he knew the victim although his relationship to her was not disclosed.

No additional suspects were being sought, the statement said. The case remains under investigation.
