Caught On Tape: 80-Year-Old Woman Injured In Glendale Hit-And-Run

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday released surveillance video of a hit-and-run accident they say left an 80-year-old woman injured.

The accident on Broadway and Columbus avenues occurred about 12:55 p.m. Thursday, Glendale police said in a written statement.

Police said the victim, identified as Lousine Ghazarian of Glendale, was walking westbound on Broadway and began to cross Columbus when she was struck by a vehicle as it turned right.

KCAL9's Serene Branson spoke with the victims family who recounted the accident.

"It's very disturbing, we were really shocked," said Gayane Markosyan, granddaughter of Ghazarian. "It was her turn to walk, so she had the right of way."

After the accident, Ghazarian sat upright and was assisted by passersby, according to video footage.

She was subsequently transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center for treatment of a cut to her right knee and bruise on her right elbow. Police said she also complained of pain to her right foot.

Police described the suspect vehicle as a four-door black sedan that had heavy window tinting.

"Were thankful that nothing even worse happened," Markosyan said. "Come forward. I just hope that doesn't happen to anyone else."

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call the Glendale Police Department Traffic Bureau at (818) 548-3131.
