The convention will feature a series of committee meetings, workshops and a dinner banquet honoring the party's women leaders.

Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, the party's candidate for controller, is scheduled to speak at the banquet, whose master of ceremonies will be State Board of Equalization member Michelle Steel, who is running for a seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., a possible 2016 presidential candidate, is scheduled to speak at Saturday's luncheon banquet. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, is scheduled to speak at the convention's Saturday dinner banquet.

The convention will conclude Sunday with a general session when the delegates will vote on a series of resolutions.
