WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Simone Battle, a singer in the girl group G.R.L., has died, it was confirmed Saturday.

Battle, who was 25, was found dead in her West Hollywood apartment on Friday morning.

Lt. W. Nash of the sheriff's West Hollywood station told City News Service that deputies were dispatched to the home in the 9000 block of Dorrington Avenue following a report of a "possible suicide." A law enforcement official, however, told CBSLA.com that an autopsy was expected to be conducted on Sunday to determine the cause of death.

While officials have not released details surrounding the death, celebrity website TMZ.com reported that she appeared to have died of an apparent suicide.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time," Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kemosabe Records, and RCA Records told ETOnline.com in a statement.

Battle rose to fame as a finalist in the 2011 U.S. version of the "X-Factor."

On Saturday, G.R.L. took to Twitter to express their grief, stating "Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart."
