Man Convicted Of Murdering Wife, Trying To Dismember Body

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 42-year-old man has been convicted of killing his 59-year-old wife and unsuccessfully trying to dismember her body.

Kevin Adonis Forrest faces up to 50 years or a life sentence in state prison, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Jurors deliberated for a couple of hours Tuesday before convicting Forrest of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors said Forrest called police and admitted to fatally shooting and stabbing Kathleen Ann Forrest four days after her death on Feb. 27, 2013.

Forrest had been married to his wife for 18 years and testified she had been verbally abusive to him.

Police found photos Forrest had taken of his wife's body after killing her, the L.A. District Attorney's Office said.

He is due back in court on Oct. 30 for sentencing.
