Convicted Sex Offender Wanted In Torrance Rape Captured In Monterey County

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) —Police say a 43-year-old convicted sex offender who posed as an undercover police officer when he raped a woman in Torrance has been taken into custody.

The woman contacted police around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, reporting she had been raped by a man she met at a residence in Torrance, according to officials. The man had identified himself as an undercover police officer and proceeded to forcibly rape the victim, officials said.

The suspect, identified as Guy Dietz, fled the scene and police say attempts to immediately locate him were unsuccessful.

About eight hours later, the California Highway Patrol tried to stop his vehicle near King City when Dietz allegedly led CHP and Monterey County Sheriff's deputies on a pursuit to the city of Soledad, where he exited his vehicle and fled on foot.

Torrance police confirmed Dietz was taken into custody in Monterey County at about 4:30 p.m.
