YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities asked for the public’s help Tuesday in identifying a man they say was captured on surveillance video, stealing a UPS package from a Yorba Linda home.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies say the theft happen last Thursday at about 11 a.m. in the 24600 block of Las Patranas, while the resident was away from the home.

The video shows the suspect approached the front door and rang the doorbell. Deputies say when no one comes to the door after several seconds, the suspect picks up the package from the porch and is seen walking away down the driveway.

No vehicle was seen in the video footage, but investigators believe the suspect got into a car and drove away from the area.

The package contained a cell phone valued at about $600.
