LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The National Weather Service Friday issued a high surf advisory through the weekend for Los Angeles and Orange County beaches.
The advisory was issued due to Tropical Storm Lowell, which as of Friday morning was about 900 miles southwest of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
The advisory went into effect at 9 a.m. and will last through 5 p.m. Sunday.
South-facing beaches, such as Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove, will be most affected.
Local sets of up to 9 feet are possible, officials said.
Officials also advise swimmers to be aware of dangerous rip currents.
