Man Killed, 2 Women Wounded In Santa Ana Shooting

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday were looking for a gunman who fatally shot a man and wounded two women, who were all sitting in a car.

The shooting happened just before midnight Tuesday in a business district at the intersection of Main and 12th streets in Santa Ana, police said.

The victims were sitting in a sedan when the suspect approached them and fired as many as 10 shots at the car.

The 23-year-old male passenger from Anaheim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ashley Caldwell, 21, and a 28-year-old woman were taken to Western Medical Center in critical, but stable condition with gunshot wounds to their upper body.

The suspect, a man in his 20s, fled the area in a white SUV, according to authorities.

Detectives don't believe the shooting was gang-related.
