Fullerton Parents Arrested On Child Endangerment Charges After Leaving Kid, 3, In Hot Car

BREA (CBSLA.com) —  Police in Brea said they arrested two parents Sunday after authorities found a child left in a hot car in a parking lot.

Ho Kim, 33 and her husband Tae Kim, 35, both residents of Fullerton, were booked into the Brea City Jail. They are both being held on bail of $100,000 each.

Police said they were called to a parking lot located at the Brea Mall around 4:45 p.m.

They found a 3-year-old girl inside a black Nissan Quest van with an internal temperature of 104 degrees, authorities said.

Police were able to instruct the girl on how to open the car doors.

It was estimated the child was left in the car for 15-20 minutes while her parents reportedly shopped inside the mall.

Authorities want to remind the public that it is dangerous to leave children, pets or seniors inside a parked vehicle. It can often be 20-30 degrees hotter inside the car than it is outside -- within minutes.
