Police: Internet Predator Arrested In OC In Targeting Female Teens

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities arrested a Cypress man Thursday who they believe attempted to contact teenage girls on the Internet for sex and was in possession of child pornography, officials said.

Garden Grove police said Michael Theodore Mordaunt, 45, was arrested just before 7 a.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of Cathy Avenue.

Police said they conducted search warrants at his home in Cypress and place of work in Seal Beach, where forensics analysts scanned all electronic devices for evidence of child pornography and attempts to lure young girls over the Internet.

"Pending the filing of charges by the OC District Attorney's Office, there won't be any specifics about the case to put out," Garden Grove police Lt. Ben Stauffer said. "We do have some victims identified already and are certainly looking for any others out there to come forward if they believe they have also been contacted by this subject."

Over the past several months, the Garden Grove and Cypress police departments, the Orange County District Attorney's Office and the Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force all worked on this investigation, officials said.

Mordaunt was booked at the Orange County Jail, police said.

Anyone aware of other victims is asked to call (714) 741-5836.
