Robert Downey Jr.'s Son Arrested On Felony Drug Charges In WeHo
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Robert Downey Jr.'s son was arrested for alleged cocaine possession following a traffic stop, authorities confirmed Monday.
Indio Downey was arrested on felony narcotics charges around 2 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Santa Monica and La Cienega boulevards in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.
Downey, 20, was a passenger in a vehicle when it was pulled over.
Details surrounding the arrest were not released.
Downey posted $10,250 bail and was released just after midnight. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 29.
Robert Downey Jr. struggled with drug addiction for years and had several drug-related arrests before become sober in the early 2000s.
"Unfortunately, there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," Robert Downey, Jr. said in a statement. "We're grateful to the Sheriff's Department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale," the actor said in a statement issued Monday.
