Kasem's Children Hold Memorial For Radio Legend In LA Area

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A private memorial service will be held Saturday for radio legend Casey Kasem in the LA area.

His eldest children, Kerri, Mike and Julie, are arranging the service.

A spokesman for the siblings said "only family and friends close to Casey will be invited to the service."

A location was not released to ensure privacy.

It's unclear whether Kasem's second wife, Jean, would be among those attending. She and Kasem's children from his first marriage, waged a bitter legal fight in the final weeks of the radio host's life, battling over his medical care and ultimately the decision to stop providing him with food and medicine.

Kasem died Sunday in Washington after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia. He was 82.

Kerri, Mike and Julie posted on Twitter Sunday: "Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. The world will
miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian."
