Beverly Hills Auction House To Sell Works From Famed Graffiti Artist Banksy

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A Beverly Hills auction house will soon sell works from famed graffiti artist Banksy.

"Banksy pieces are so rare, and these are all pieces that he did in public ... really truly unique pieces. So, this is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view some of these Banksy pieces," Michael Doyle of Julien's Auctions said.

KCAL9's Stephanie Simmons reports that Banksy is known for creating masterpieces on walls outside of businesses across the world.

Some of the work hitting the auction floor includes pieces taken from Mexico and Berlin, along with artwork Banksy completed on a car's wheel boot.

"One of the motifs he often uses in his works are the rats. He kinda sees these rats as a symbol of modern society. These little rats are lurking around you. Even if you don't know it, they're there," Doyle said.

Work from local artists and fine and decorative art from the private collection of Barbara Lazaroff, the former wife of chef Wolfgang Puck, will also be featured in the auction.

Julien's Auctions is open to the public and takes place June 26.
