A rally inside the Staples Center will follow at 1 p.m. Tickets for that event were quickly snatched up and sold out.

Planning has been underway for several days, but kept under wraps to  avoid "jinxing" the NHL championship series, team sources told City News Service.

The triumph parade plans were unveiled moments after the Kings clinched their second Stanley Cup championship in three seasons with a 3-2 double-
overtime victory over the New York Rangers.

The parade is expected to last 30-45 minutes. Fans who can't make it can watch the festivities live on KCAL9 and on CBSLA.com.

Kings players, will be joined by coaches, team mascot Bailey and the Ice Crew riding aboard double-decker buses and other specially decorated vehicles with the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy and Clarence Campbell Cup.

Spots along the half-mile-long parade route are free and first-come first-claimed.

But fans are advised that a security perimeter will surround Staples Center and L.A. Live, with access controlled by the Los Angeles Police Department and Department of Transportation. Only a few fans will be admitted there.

A sold-out rally will begin at 1 p.m. in Staples Center, with ticket holders able to enter at 11:30 a.m. to watch the parade on the arena's video screens. Ticket holders can also enter special viewing areas along Chick Hearn Court on both the L.A. Live and Staples Center sides of the street.

The rally will include video highlights from the season and speeches from the players.
