Mom Accused Of Abducting 4-Year-Old Daughter Taken Into Custody

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com)   — A mother who reportedly abducted her 4-year-old girl from a motel in Santa Ana was found with the little girl at a movie theater in Victorville, police said Saturday.

Both the mother and child have been taken into custody, authorities said.

The mother, Rachel Ashley Marks, 25, was booked into the Santa Ana Police Department Jail for alleged child abduction. The child, Taylor Faith Marks, has been returned to her father, according to a department statement.

Officers were called to the hotel at 2600 N. Main St. around 8:30 a.m. Friday. They were told that the father, who has sole custody of the girl, was with the child's mother on Thursday night, according to Santa Ana police.

All three spent the night at the motel, but when the father woke up the child and her mother were gone, in violation of a court-ordered child custody agreement, police said.

Investigators initially believed the mother was on the way to Las Vegas, where she lives, according to Santa Ana police.
