Powerball Ticket Worth $1.2M Sold In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Someone in Los Angeles missed $100 million by that much.

But that lucky ticket holder in Los Angeles also had all five winning Powerball numbers in Saturday's draw (failing to only land the Powerball number) for a ticket worth $1.249,351.

The ticket correctly matched the numbers 23, 32, 39, 47 and 49, missing only the Powerball number of 22.

The winning ticket was purchased at Discount Cigarettes (located at 1804-7 South La Cienega Boulevard) in Los Angeles.

Officials said because there was no jackpot winner Saturday evening, Wednesday's Powerball jackpot is an estimated $114 million.

The current Mega Millions (another multi-state game) jackpot stands at $149 million, California's Super Lotto Plus is $68 million.

Powerball is played in 43 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Draws for the $2 game are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Powerball starts at $40 million and rolls over every time there is no jackpot winner. The record Powerball jackpot reached $590 million in May 2013.
