Bomb Squad Defuses Explosive Device Found At Lake Hills Home

LAKE HILLS (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said the bomb squad defused an explosive device found at a Lake Hills home Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched Wednesday afternoon to the 16200 block of Bright Morning Court in response to the discovery of two wires protruding from a rock.

The bomb squad determined the wires were connected to a live demolition charge that was apparently left behind when the home was built 20 years ago, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Robert Epps said.

Deputies took undisclosed "protective measures" to protect the home as well as neighboring houses from any potential damage during the effort to defuse the charge. Epps did not specify whether anyone in the neighborhood had to be evacuated as bomb squad members deactivated the charge by Friday night.
