The bomb squad determined the wires were connected to a live demolition charge that was apparently left behind when the home was built 20 years ago, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Epps said.READ MORE: LADWP Offering Rebates Up To $2 Million To Property Owners Who Install Large Water-Conservation Systems
Deputies took undisclosed “protective measures” to protect the home as well as neighboring houses from any potential damage during the effort to defuse the charge. Epps did not specify whether anyone in the neighborhood had to be evacuated as bomb squad members deactivated the charge by Friday night.
