Man Whose Car Crash Caused Electrocution Of 2 Women Pleads No Contest To Manslaughter
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Southern California man whose car hit a power pole, electrocuting two women who tried to help him, has pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter.
Los Angeles County prosecutors say Arman Samsonian entered the plea Wednesday. He'll be sentenced to 70 days of community labor, probation, and a fine and will have to pay restitution.
Authorities say the 21-year-old Glendale man was speeding, passing cars and driving in a left-turn lane in a rush to get to the gym in August of 2012 when he lost control on a turn in Valley Village. The car hit a power pole and fire hydrant.
Prosecutors say that crash created a pool of electrified water, and two women were killed when they tried to help after the accident.
