LASD: Teen Girl Fatally Shot In Apartment Stairwell
WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Thursday were investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot in the stairwell of an apartment complex.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 11900 block of S. Wilmington Avenue in Willowbrook, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Witnesses said the girl was standing in the stairwell when she was approached by the suspect.
"The suspect produced a handgun and fired one time at the victim, hitting her in the upper torso," deputy Don Walker said.
The unidentified girl was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect, described as a heavy-set Hispanic man in his twenties with a shaved head, was last seen fleeing the location on foot.
A motive for the shooting was not released.
