Juvenile Suspect Wanted For Brutal Assault Against Elderly Woman Captured

HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Hemet have announced the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect wanted for an attack last week on an elderly woman.

Officials said two teens attacked the 87-year-old victim in an apartment in the 800 block of W. Oakland Avenue, tied her up and poured bleach all over her.

A neighbor told KCAL that the unidentified victim was put in a medically-induced coma.

Authorities rarely, if ever, identify juvenile suspects in criminal cases.  Hemet officials said they publicly named Raymond Michael Miranda and made an exception in his case "to protect the public and aid in the capture of the suspect."

A 15-year-old was taken into custody a day after the attack but the other suspect remained at large until this evening. Officials said the teen arrested was taken into custody at a hotel room at the Pechanga Resort & Casino.

Police told KCAL9's Crystal Cruz someone over 18 rented the room for the underage teen but wouldn't elaborate.

Authorities told Cruz the teens would likely be charged with attempted murder and assault.
