Authorities Searching For 2 Men Who Raped Woman During Home Burglary

MOORPARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are searching for two men who allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman during a home burglary in Moorpark.

The victim came home around 11:15 a.m. April 16 and found the suspects removing items from the residence in the 4700 Block of Elderberry Avenue, according to Ventura County sheriff's detectives.

The woman was then sexually assaulted after the two men confronted her, according to investigators.

The suspects then ran off.

Resident Laura Mains said dozens of law enforcement officers swarmed the area immediately after the incident happened.

"They had their guns out, looking in bushes," she said. "I became very scared, started locking everything up, double checking everything."

The first suspect was described as white, 6 feet 2 to 6 feet 4 inches tall and between 25 and 35. He was wearing all black clothing and a dark beanie.

The second suspect was described as white, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and between 25 and 35. He was also wearing all black clothes.

A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the suspects' arrests.

A neighbor named "Anne," who lives with her two young daughters, said she's worried that the culprits are still on the loose.

"You think you're safe and to have somebody come in and do that in your neighborhood, it's frightening," she said.

Anyone with information on the crime was asked to contact Det. Tim Lanquist at (805) 494-8229.
