Wounded LAPD Officer Released From Hospital

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles Police Department officer who was shot several times at a station earlier this week has been released from the hospital.

The male officer, whose name has not been disclosed, was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and is recovering at home, the LAPD said.

The seven-year veteran suffered several gunshot wounds Monday night after 29-year-old Daniel Yealu allegedly walked into the lobby of the Mid-City station, said he had a complaint and started shooting with a .40-caliber glock.

The male officer and his female partner fired back, critically injuring Yealu.

The officer, who was not wearing a protective vest, was hit at least three times. He was struck twice in the shoulder and once in the side. A fourth bullet pierced the front pocket of his pants.

He underwent several surgeries at Cedars before he was released.

Yealu was last listed in critical, but stable, condition.
