Woman's Purse With Late Son's Toys Inside Taken At Murrieta Gym

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — Ashley Norris had something very precious taken from her— the toys her 8-and-a-half-month-old son Timothy used to play with.

"Those were his toys that he played with every day," Norris said. "Those are the only ones I ever carried around."

After Timothy died of a rare disease a year ago, Norris kept the toys in her purse.

Just days ago, however, she said her purse was stolen at an LA Fitness gym in Murrieta.

KCAL9's Tom Wait reports Norris came to the gym Monday, locked her belongings in the women's locker room and then went to work out. When she was finished, Norris returned to find the locker busted open and her purse gone.

"If I could get those toys back, that would be great," she cried. "I just want those toys back. They mean the world to me."

Since the crime happened in the women's locker room, which has no security cameras, there was no surveillance video of the theft. However, police did release images of a couple using the woman's credit card at a nearby location, Wait reported.

Norris said she still has some leads because someone used her credit card at a store near Murrieta.

In the meantime, Norris has posted fliers in the area, asking only that the toys be returned.

"Keep the purse, keep my wallet, you have my social security card, my checks. You name it. I don't want it. I just want his toys," she said.
