STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — A fatal accident involving a big rig and a car forced a major SigAlert on the Hollywood (101) Freeway Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m. north of the Vineland exit in Studio City, the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities were investigating a nearby collision when the fatal accident occurred.

The driver of the semi-truck said he was stopped on the freeway when the Lexus rear-ended his vehicle.

A70-year-old Bell Canyon resident died at the scene, officials said.
