Boyle Heights Couple Surrenders At U.S.-Mexico Border After Amber Alert
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A couple who allegedly abducted their four children from their custodial grandmother in Boyle Heights and fled to Mexico have surrendered to authorities, officials said Monday.
KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reports police say Enrique Felix and Rosa Chairez, both 28, were taken into custody Sunday at the Otay Mesa border crossing on arrest warrants and returned to Los Angeles.

At 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Chairez contacted Hollenbeck-area detectives and advised them that she and her husband were at the U.S.-Mexican Otay Mesa border crossing and ready to surrender themselves to authorities, according to LAPD Capt. Martin Baeza.
Warrants were issued a short time later for their arrests.
The couple allegedly abducted 7-year-old Enrique Felix, 5-year-old Justin Felix and twin 12-month-old girls Veronica and Janet Felix from their grandmother in the 1400 block of North Indiana Street on March 14. The children were found four days later on March 18 at the U.S.-Mexico border.
"The suspicion that we have is that things weren't working out very well for them in Mexico as far as support, money," Baeza said.
Authorities with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services had placed the children in the custody of their maternal grandmother, Maria Chairez, because of alleged incidents of violence toward the children and their mother by Felix.
