Suspect Who Kept SWAT At Bay For Hours In Azusa Is Dead

AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — A suspect who kept SWAT and police at bay for hours in Azusa on Sunday is dead.

The barricade situation unfolded just after 3 p.m. in the 800 block of East Pepper Tree Drive.

The unidentified suspect was declared dead about four hours later.

Officers from two different Glendora units reportedly went to the man's home earlier Sunday to serve an arrest warrant.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky 2, said the suspect jumped through a glass window to avoid arrest, fled a perimeter and ran into an adjacent home.

The suspect was reportedly armed -- possibly with a shotgun.

Some residents were evacuated, according to Mundel.

Officials asked residents of the Sierra Palms Condo complex to stay inside with their doors locked.

Residents were also asked to report any suspicious activity to 911.
