Pit Bull Euthanized After Biting Boy's Lip And Leaving Severe Wound

WINCHESTER (CBSLA.com) — A 2-year-old female pit bull was euthanized Saturday after she bit an 11-year-old Winchester boy.

The dog reportedly caused a "severe" injury to the boy's lip.

A Riverside County Animal Services officer responded to a dog bite Saturday afternoon at the boy's home, said John Welsh of Riverside County Animal Servies.

The dog reportedly lunged at the boy in an unprovoked attack around 4 p.m. on a house on Stuber Street.

Welsh said the victim and other children were playing inside the den when the dog attacked.

A cue stick was reportedly needed to keep the dog from attacking the boy a second time.

The unaltered pit bull was surrendered to Riverside County Animal Services by the pet owner for humane euthanasia, Walsh said in a statement.
