Man Wants Answers After Wife Found Dead In Lake At Boyle Heights Park

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A man wants answers after his wife's body was discovered Thursday floating in a lake at a park in Boyle Heights.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old transient Lorenza Arellano, was spotted by a jogger around 10 a.m. at Hollenbeck Park at 4th and St. Louis streets, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"I'm still trying to accept the fact that it is her. I'm still trying to accept the reality that I'll never see her again. We did have our moments, but my wife of 13 years, I did care about her. I still miss her,"  David Scala said.

Scala told KCAL9's Bobby Kaple that he and Arellano had separated three months ago and she had been homeless ever since.

The couple has six children together, ranging from 1 to 11 years old.

"She had been homeless for a few months. Before that, we had actually been homeless together. Little by little, my life was getting better, but she started drinking, and I couldn't be around for that,"  Scala said.

Detectives were investigating the death as a homicide. No suspects have been named and a cause of death hasn't been released.

"I wanna know what happened. Hopefully the person could have the heart to turn himself in," Scala said.
