Lil' Za Has Felony Property Damage Charge Reduced To Misdemeanor

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A felony property damage charge against a friend and former housemate of Justin Bieber Wednesday was reduced to a misdemeanor.

Xavier Domonique Smith, also known as rapper Lil Za, faced a charge of prison/jail damage after he allegedly broke a jail phone following his drug-related arrest at Bieber's Calabasas home on Jan. 14.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Smith was in possession of ecstasy.

Deputies were searching the home for evidence in connection with an egging incident that caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to a neighbor's home on Jan. 9.

The 20-year-old rapper will be arraigned on damage charges on April 30.

It was unclear when he will return to court on drug possession charges.
