Suspect Found Dead In Hollywood Hills Shooting, Standoff ID'd
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man found dead after exchanging gunfire with officers at a Hollywood Hills home on Monday has been identified.
Michael Valentino, 27, was discovered with a gunshot wound inside his four-level apartment home in the 8200 block of Gould Avenue.
Around 8 a.m., police responded to a domestic battery call at Valentino's home.
"Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual. The individual produced a [semiautomatic handgun] and an officer-involved shooting did occur," LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado said.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside the residence before a SWAT team made entry hours later. It's unknown whether Valentino's death was self-inflicted or caused by the officer's weapon.
A female training officer involved in the incident was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said her wounds may have been from bullet fragments or debris.
