$20K Reward Offered To Find Man Who Escaped From Downtown LA Jail

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who escaped from a downtown Los Angeles jail earlier this month.

Christopher Lee Brown impersonated another inmate and walked out of the sheriff's Inmate Reception Center around 10 p.m. March 12, officials said.

Brown had been sentenced to four years in jail for burglary and identity theft in connection to stealing computers from an Alhambra health care facility.

Supervisor Michael Antonovich, who recommended the reward, said Brown was a transient with no known address and multiple arrests for theft-related crimes.

In 1997, Brown was convicted for assault with a deadly weapon in the San Luis Obispo area. He was arrested 10 years later for spousal assault in the Santa Barbara area.

Brown has also been arrested in other areas, including El Monte and Newport Beach.

Anyone with information on the case should call the sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau at (562) 946-7231.
