22-Year-Old Man Sentenced For Fatally Shooting Former Friend

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man was sentenced Friday to 50 years to life in state prison for fatally shooting a former friend after the pair had a falling out over a woman.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patrick Meyers sentenced José Antonio Barrios.

Barrios was found guilty of fatally shooting Robert Christopher Guerrero in February 2013.

The statement said the men had run into each other at a supermarket when the defendant reportedly got into the victim's car and subsequently shot him three times.

Authorities said the victim was then pushed out of the vehicle.

According to Deputy District Attorney Don Syn, Barrios and the victim were former friends.

The pair reportedly had a falling out over a woman and money issues, the statement said.
