Chris Brown Arrested For Alleged Probation Violation

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Chris Brown has been arrested in connection with an alleged probation violation, law enforcement officials confirmed to CBS2 on Friday.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker confirmed that an arrest warrant was served on the rap singer.

Brown, who was cooperative, was taken into custody about 2 p.m. He was being held without bail at the Los Angeles County jail in downtown Los Angeles.

Friday's arrest was related to an alleged probation violation related to his 2009 conviction for assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.

"The warrant was issued related to assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats crimes which occurred on February 7, 2009, in the city of Los Angeles," a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The judge in that case ordered Brown to a 90-day, live-in anger-management treatment program, which he completed in February.

But, according to TMZ.com, Brown was ordered to stay in the rehab facility following an October arrest in Washington D.C. in which Brown faces a misdemeanor assault charge.

The celebrity website reports that Brown, for unknown reasons, was allegedly thrown out of the rehab facility on Friday morning.

A call placed to Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney, was not immediately returned.
