DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — Irvine students spotted a group of false killer whales near Dana Point on Wednesday.

“I have been cruising in this area for many years, and I have never seen this species of cetacean off of our coast,” said Mike Bursk, captain of the Ocean Institute’s RV Sea Explorer. “They prefer deep temperate to tropical waters.
